Hello and welcome to the client experience page, my name is Shan and I have recently relocated to beautiful Boston with my boyfriend of six years from St. Louis, Missouri where I owned and operated a small but successful salon.

I currently work for a great intimate salon called- purehairdesign.com Check them out. Located in the Trendy South End neighborhood of Boston.

As for my long time friends and wonderful clients in St. Louis, again I want to thank all of you so much for your support, love, understanding, patience, and also for allowing me to sing, have fun with you, and for putting up with the billions of evites to numerous events. I really could not have created and sustained such a successful salon without you.

Thank you for being a part of this chapter in my life, and don’t forget to leave a comment.

Sincerely & Best wishes,

Shan

A great cut everytime I go
Nothing better than to go to a place you can absolutely trust to give you the best cut every single time. Great music, great people, great cut! :-D

Perfect Hair
Hi Shan,

I just wanted to write you a quick note to say thank you for finding the perfect hair color to cover the grays! I love it and it is not the least bit red/orange!

Thanks again,

Sarah :)

The Best in Boston
By far the title says it best. Shan knows how it's done. I've been wowed many times and still continue to be wowed. Never a challenge to get the perfect hair style out of him. A Pure Pro. I've sent most of my friends in the area to him and all of them still continue to see him. Go Shan! You Rock!:-D

Hair Dresser On Fire
Any intelligent logical thinking person generally would ask the same question -again & again & again... Why would "A real hair care professional in STL" open them self to libel/ slander? Who would gain the most from spreading false criticism? And why would any mature and responsible individual(s) from the same SBC IP address(es) use words as a weapon? It isn't hard to trace email. Moreover, it's IRONIC both comments are only 2 minutes apart on the same day! This isn't rocket science to deduce. Perhaps "A real hair care professional in STL" is intimidated and feels threatened that Shan is still maintaining a successful client program on a tour basis in Saint Louis, and/or now must resort to lies and deception as a successful business strategy to avoid reality and satisfy one's own insecurity. One who uses logic may derive that any adult in business wouldn't play juvenile mind games. It serves no greater purpose. Such antics are the curse of a small town mindset. One could even say being red with envy. Now who's unethical?? Karma: It isn't just a good idea, it's the future. From a psychological physiology people who exhibit this petty childish behavior suffer from low self esteem and trust issues ( directed within themselves ). Whether or not anyone has commented since 2007 is pugilistic, the point is that they've commented. There's NO time limit on customer satisfaction -or dissatisfaction for that matter. If comments do not accurately reflect any given circumstance, the owner of this has every right to remove misleading characterizations. The only person who looks bad (now) is/ are the one(s) who've instigated this poor business model. It's easy to hide behind anonymity --until you are caught. Harboring such animosity and resentment is counter productive to the community's psyche. Move on.... Let it go. Scheduling errors occur... Stick to the facts. If you're going to color with crayons, stay within the lines.

Gifted Artist
As many people have told you, in addition to being a wonderful person, you are truly a gifted artist who is phenomenal at his craft. I hope your clients in Boston appreciate you as much as we do. Warm Regards and best wishes on your continued success!

Solid Reputation
It is without a doubt a shame that some people have the guts to say such immoral disrespectful things about someone who does a fantastic job. I have been going to see Shan since he's come to Boston and I would never go to anyone else. Also, since I have been seeing him, he's had several clients who were there before me and he's gotten nothing but incredible comments for the great job he's done. Just because there are no comments on this page does not mean that he doesn't get them in person or through any other form of communication. He has a very solid reputation here and I will always back that up 100%. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all! Leave well enough alone!

I have a Choice
Luckily, I do have a choice in who cuts my hair and can not be "sold" as a client to anyone. Regarding the salon Shan left in St. Louis...when a business is sold, in addition to the physical part of the business, the buyer MAY pay a price for the seller's GOODWILL. Even with a non-compete and other contracts, it is still a gamble for the new owner and only has value if the new owner can maintain the good feelings of those existing customers and transfer that goodwill/business to them. If no price was paid and no contract written, there is no basis for any complaint from the new owner. The customers however do have a right to complain if they can't find service equal to that which they once had. So I choose to continue to see Shan and have seen him twice in Boston. Love my hair!

Outstanding Stylist
I have never had anyone cut or color my hair with such an outstanding attention to detail. It hasn't been the same since he left st louis
B-)
John - 07/12/2008 - 11:28
I have known Shan and been an admirer of his work for years. Never have I had a stylist who is so talented and responcible in my 35 years of life. There are many stylists out there who "say" they are professional and talented but really SUCK. Shan has always been uber creative and consistent. I've also had the pleasure of attending a few weddings that Shan has styled and the wedding parties have always look picture perfect. Anyhow, I just wanted to comment on here after reading the hate mail from the two ladies who apparently need to be checked into a mental institution. Their statements about this fine talented young artisan are 100 percent FALSE. Shan truly is "The Bee's Knees"
The Bee's Knees - 07/12/2008 - 09:48
Truth Hurts
DISCLAIMER: I am Shan's partner and have been for the past 7 years. ------------------------------ Dear Mary & ARHPIS [anonymity is fun ain't it?] - I know nothing of the details of the "stood up wedding appointment" and therefore cannot address it nor should I have to as it is a private matter between you and Shan, BUT I invested over 5 years of equity (both financial and sweat)in that salon and therefore do have the right to denounce your statement that Shan "sold" his clients. I infer from your use of quotations on the word "sold" that you are making direct reference to a statement that was told to you. Unfortunately, this information is false; a plain and simple lie. Hopefully you ladies aren't too embarrassed. It's okay. We all make mistakes. But it's your lucky day, Mary & ARHPIS! I can tell you the facts, and well....facts are the truth. I can tell you that the current owner of that space which WAS...and I stress was (as in is no longer)...a top salon in St Louis was HANDED the keys and a great book of clients for NOT ONE SINGLE PENNY. In fact as a 50% vested owner in the "deal" I do not even recall a personal thank you or nod of appreciation. There was a $300 transaction in which the current owner purchased the Dell computer and printer. Now ladies, knowing the truth, don't you feel better? Respectfully, Jay Domen PS. One "hacks" into servers and networks, one does not "hack" pictures
Shan has been coming back to STL to work with client's he "sold"---how unethical! Notice how he has no new comments since 07?
A real hair professional in STL - 07/11/2008 - 14:31
Shan is worthless. Have you noticed that he has no negative comments here? He deletes them as he did my last one. After being his client for over a year, he stood me up for a wedding because it was snowing. He refused to speak to me directly and instead made his coworker do his dirty work. He never called after that. Good riddance, wannabe. I wonder who actually did the hair on the images you post here---did you hack them from Vogue?

Lucky Boston
Boston, I hope you know how lucky you are! I absolutely hated to see Shan leave St. Louis because he is a true artist. My cut and color had never looked better. He knows how to make a woman look beautiful and is a perfectionist in all that he does.
Rosie Ford - 06/29/2007 - 04:35
Sorry to see you two go. Ain't no way, no how, St. Louis will be the same without you!

Devastated
Shan, Okay, I've been in denial but since it's now down to the wire I guess you really are going...What can I say you are the absolute best, most talented, stylist in St. Louis. I am devastated, but trying not to be totally selfish. It's just you are the only stylist that I have ever found that gets it perfect every time. See you on the 28th. Rose

Shan, Just to keep my Mrs. Kravitz status in tact, Don & I attended the open house last Sunday. The house looks fabulous! I would think it should sell quickly. You have no idea how much the 300 block of Atalanta is going to miss you two!!!

Music Enjoyed
Shan, I stumbled onto your salon quite by accident but was very pleasantly surprised by the results. I always felt good about my hair when I left & received lots of compliments. Good luck in Boston. Always enjoyed your singing and your musical repertoire!

Grace and Professionalism.
Shan, You are handling this situation as you do all others in your life... with grace and professionalism. Thank you to both you and Jay for being such assets to the community, and for being such good friends. We will miss you so much!

Congratulations
Wow! Big news! Congratulations to the both of you and I wish you so much success and happiness in this new adventure. When I left Illinois to move to Southern California, it was a terrifying but oh so exciting move; and I'm SO glad I did it. I know you must be going through much of what I did. Hang in there, God Bless, good luck, and have fun. It's a new adventure! Thinking of you and wishing you well. By the way, I've been to Boston couple of times in the past year and had a great time there. I'm sure you will too, but it's way too cold there for me to leave SOCAL (Long Beach). Oh well, you've always got a place to stay here when you want to come visit and thaw out in the winter.

Thanks for Everything
I'm going to miss you (and Jay)! It took me forever to find someone in St. Louis who "understood" my hair. Yeah, I have alot of it, but it's fine and that makes it a different monster altogether. You know just how to cut/color it - just so perfectly for my taste. Thankfully, I have the utmost faith in knowing you wouldn't leave us stranded with someone incapable; that you genuinely care and take pride in what you do. I look forward to meeting Jeremy and Michele. Thanks for everything and best wishes!

I’m going to be sorry to see you go, but it sounds like an opportunity you just have to take...For the first time in my life, I really like my hair style, and now I don’t know what to do

Miss You
I am really going to miss you. As you know if your hair isn 't happy no one is happy. You have a very unique talent in that area...I know you'll succeed where ever you go, but you leave behind allot of friends and clients. You should feel proud for what you've done for the community. You will truly be missed. Sincerely, Nancy
