Puppini Sisters

I MET THE PUPPINI SISTERSpuppininew.jpg
last night. Jay, Jenny and I all went to see them at a small local Jazz club called Scullers. Marcella remembered me from chatting on Myspace with her. For their second show starting at 10pm, they were certainly full of energy. They have quite the little routine.. very off the cuff and seemingly spontaneous. They have a smart way of showing off their talents and comedic timing. Very enjoyable, if they keep it up, I predict more fame for them in the States. They played a good mixture from both albums. The standards you would expect from this 40's Andrew's sisters influenced group, Lovely Daddy, Bugle Boy, Iand In The Mood. Some wonderful surpising reworks included Walk Like An Egyptian, Heart Of Glass, Beyonces - Crazy In Love and an encoure of the beautifuly styled I Will Survive. Thank you to them for bringing a such a unique talent to the East Coast.

DAVID BOWIE INSPIRES US PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

I thought it was worth sharing.

Work at the salon seems to be improving a bit even though everyone seems to have recession on their mind. I am seeing more return clients, which makes me feel better and I have really noticed how Yelp.com has helped me gain exposure and new clients.

Those attackers I blogged about in another blog had attacked a couple more people recently and the police were more diligent after one of the victims was taken to the hospital, so they caught them; It makes me feel better. Also most of the South End has been stunned at the recent stabbing of an employee from Liquid Hair Studios. I didn’t know him or people at the salon, but I am saddened by the event, and my heart goes out to the staff. He was killed in Dorchester after accompanying someone home from a bar in the South End. You can read more about it here-- http://www.universalhub.com/node/12439

So we are currently experiencing a “light dusting” according to Boston.com, but It seems much more than that. St. Louis here I come next week again for my 6 week pilgrimage to do fabulous hair. This trip should be interesting because my mother is flying in to help celebrate my grandfathers 85th birthday. I will also have a birthday on the 1st of February, but I am not telling you how old. I have not seen my mother in about 5 years, which is the typical M.O. for her, but I am not bitter, no, not at all. See you all in February

Go See Milk

This movie staring Sean Penn is the best Movie I have seen all year. A very moving piece with spectacular acting by Sean and Josh Browlin. I remember reading about Harvey Milk years ago and even then it struck me as a tragic yet inspiring story about early Gay rights. I was moved then as I was now by the shear number of people who attended the candle lit vigil after Harvey and the Major of San Francisco were shot in there offices at city hall in 1978. Gus Van Sant was brilliant this time by using original footage from actual events as well as the vigil crowd as far as the eye can see marching to City Hall.
